It is the Vodafone’s “buy iPhone on EMIs” SMS which made me write this. It goes on like this – “Now, the iPhone you have been waiting for is even more wonderful. Buy iPhone on EMIs of Rs 2470 only. Enough is enough. Frankly, this piece of art from Apple is in bad hands now. First, they (Vodafone) bully the Indian market and launch iPhone at an exorbitant price. Then, they come out with this EMI shit and try to make it “look” affordable. Aw cmon guys, iPhone is a phenomenon. Ride on it. Don’t try these cheap sales shit to sell it. It’ll sell like hotcakes by itself. Just price it in 15K range and see your iPhone business have scaling problems!
I personally don’t like Airtel much for their services. But they are marketing the iPhone nicely. They are giving it what it deserves on its way to become a solid business phone brand in India.
Whatever good or bad is there with iPhone, remember, there can only be one iPhone.

fully subscribe to ur thoughts. In fact I went to getsatisfaction.com and complained too. Both Airtel (whose service i currently use) and Vodafone and Idiots. They want to make iPhone a Up market brand and keep it out of hands of many, and hence deny the use of a b’ful piece of tech. And it not as if it cost same in other countries.It cost only $500 for unlocked in US. Why not that too here. Why is it costing us around $700.

India being the gr8 market for the foriegn investors and companies, here though the labour is cheap and oppurtunities are great….. i think now these big players have made up their brians to just cheat Indians as well….
For a simple reason….Indians can go to any extent to get what they want…..

EMI good solution and with the span of some weeks / months you will surely endup buying the same Dream desire(I-PHONE) for few hunderd Rs. extra..
It seems to me as if emotions, values all can be bought at our cost….
The iPhone is way too expensive here. And people are probably getting ripped off even more if they buy it under that EMI plan. We don’t even have 3G service in the country yet. They should be charging us less. Best thing is to get an unlocked iPhone from the States.
Though I agree the price is high, there is one thing that you missed. In US/ countries where it is technically cheaper, people signup for a 2 year contract of $70-$80 per month. If you do not want the contract, you end up paying close to $600 even here.
Will you agree to spend Rs. 10k on the iPhone if it came with contract of Rs. 3000/mo as your bill? Probably not š
Comparing $600 in US to $700 in India is not that bad since we need to add things like import duty etc. Such is the price difference even with laptops and other tech gadgets.
